Hello, yes, this can work in a damp basement; however, based on the square footage the recommendation would be a Biotica800 or 2 BioLogic Minis.
This will not affect humidity in the basement and can work where there is humidity. Although it does help with dust, dust may still persist depending on the cause and the rate at which it is coming in.
